Low Vision - Hadleigh, Essex
Low vision is a term that covers a wide range of visual problems – from individuals who generally see quite well but struggle with very small print to those registered blind or partially sighted who will have more profound visual problems.
The causes of these vision problems vary greatly, but the symptoms tend to be the same – difficulty seeing fine detail such as small print.
We need to magnify small print enough so that it can be seen clearly and also maximise contrast. In short make it BIG & make it BOLD!
The Solution
Generally speaking the solution is the same for all as well. We need to magnify small print enough so that it can be seen clearly and also maximise contrast. In short, make it big and make it bold!.
There are many ways of achieving this; the simplest is extra-strong reading glasses to give some magnification and a very good reading light to enhance contrast but this will only work well in patients with a mild impairment.

High-resolution Magnifier
For more profound problems we need a good quality, high-resolution magnifier preferably with a built in light. These can vary in strength from about 3x to 15x magnification and are available in a range of designs to suit different individuals.
There are also special magnifiers designed to enhance your enjoyment of television that we can demonstrate for you.
We keep a wide range of magnifiers in stock so if you are struggling to read with conventional glasses book an appointment and see what we can do to make life easier and more enjoyable.
